How does the sound amplification using just an air compressor or a flame work ?
More than 100 years ago, there was almost no electronics. There were no amplifiers. The achieved amplification using two different methods. One was by just air compressor and other was to use gas light flame; Any ideas how exactly it was done. And by what factor amplification was achieved ?
Do air conditioners need a compressor?
I’ve been interested in how air conditioners work recently, so I looked it up. I understand that the compressor compresses the freon so it will become hot, which then passes through through basically a radiator to cool down. I assume it is compressed so the cooling process happens quicker. Can the compressor be removed and simply allow the freon to remain in the radiator longer? Wouldn’t this perform the same function?
Thanks for any info!

Compressor?
A refrigerator in a room at 31.86 oC keeps the temperature in the freezing compartment at -2 oC. If the real “coefficient of performance” is the ideal one divided by 1.957 and 340.9 W are released into the room what is the power use of the compressor?
