A refrigerator in a room at 31.86 oC keeps the temperature in the freezing compartment at -2 oC. If the real “coefficient of performance” is the ideal one divided by 1.957 and 340.9 W are released into the room what is the power use of the compressor?

    Ok, let’s go on :

    ideal coefficient of performance = 1 – T2 / T1

    T2 = temperature in the freezing compartment

    T1 = temperature of the room

    n = 1 + 2 / 31.86 = 1.06

    The real coefficient of performance = n / 1.957 = K

    K = 0.54

    Then : K = H / P

    H = 340.9 W

    then : 0.54 = 340.9 / Power

    Power = 631.3 W

    Hope that helps
