air Compressor
FLETCH 001 asked:

I did not find a label stating the capacity at 40 or 90 PSI nor CFPM It is either not there or it is painted over. How can I determine what the capacity is? In addition The electric cord, while in good condition does NOT have a grounded plug. I want to replace it with a three wire cord and plug. Is there anything in particular I should be aware of when swapping out the cord? While checking out the compressor what else should I be aware of?

  1. oil field trash says:

Is the make or model number shown? That might be a clue to capacity and max pressure

Does it have a tank? If so, how big is it. With that information you could estimate the pumping rate.

Does it have a relief valve? All compressors should have a relief valve specially if there is a tank involved.

Is the plug the original plug? Is so it might be one of the much older model that didn’t have a ground wire. Also some small models are made so there is no way a short circuit can reach the case.

Is the compressor a diaphragm of piston type compressor? I have a very old Craftsman diaphragm compressor with a two wire plug and no tank. It was designed to be used with a constant bleed paint Spray gun. It could also be used to pump or car tires. It had no relief valve. oil field trash
